Depends. We do it normally during taxi, but if we have to wait for taxi clearance we do it after push back. Just make sure if your aircraft has aileron droop, to do it after flap extension.

During taxi normally, except during LVO, when it is done either before taxi or stopped at the holding point.

B737: Before taxi. Actually nothing is done anymore during taxi other than taxi in those procedures...

Most manufacturers and companies have changed the SOP/check list over the years to before taxi.

one of the ideas being heads up eyes out during taxi plus reduced work load while aircraft is moving.

On the Fokker 50 the gustlock is removed and controls checked during lineup or in high winds after lineup. Mind you holding the stick in high winds is not a bad idea as the gust lock can fail :}

A few years back, the control checks were done during taxi on the B737 then changed to before taxi.
The change was made by Boeing and reason given was to decrease work load during taxi,so why do other Boeing aircraft do it during taxi? :hmm:

More like 5 years ago id guess.
So why the 717 and 747 still use the old procedure?

DutchOne, where is the reference for that? It doesn't say anything about it in the Boeing Manual.
