It is with deep regret that I pass on the news of the death in Thailand of Tom Grieve.

Tom, who often popped back into Strathaven on visits home, died when his GT450 crashed this morning in Pattaya.

The newspaper article is here:

British Microlight Instructor dies following air crash at South Pattaya Pier | Pattaya One - Pattaya News, Thailand News, World News, updated 24 hours a day (http://www.pattayaone.net/pattaya-news/66196/british-microlight-instructor-dies-air-crash-south-pattaya-pier/)

As yet, nothing more is known than reported in the paper.

It may not even be all correct - they say he was English, although we always thought of him as Scottish!

Very sad news indeed. I had known Tom for 20 years and done my license with him out in Thailand. Great man with a great sense of adventure sadly missed!

Both men are believed to have taken the microlight out above the Bay of Thailand to scatter the ashes of close friend Stuart Long who died of throat cancer aged 41.
