View Full Version : Question for USA Controllers; "Taxi To" clearance change

Will somebody please confirm that the phrase "Carrier ABC/Aircraft you are cleared to "taxi to" runwy 33 is no longer in use (and has not been for some time)"?

I understood that the phrase "taxi to" allowed me to taxi on taxiways and to cross non-departure runway(s) to taxi to and hold short of the assigned departure runway. That procedure and phrase is no longer in use. Is that correct.

Looking at 7110.65, paragraph 3-7-2 shows no reference for the phrase "Taxi to", nothing in the pilot controller glossery either. Notice JO 7110.532 stated the "taxi to" phraseology has been deleted (cancellation date of March 10, 2011)

I'm a pilot not a controller.

Thank you for your time.

I'm retired now, but yeah, it changed over a year ago. Need a specific clearance to cross any runway, active or not as I understood it.

I hate being out of the loop. That is a fairly big change, and I missed it. Thank you for your years of service, the update and I hope you are enjoying reitirement.

Respectfully,
