I'll just get my ERC...

Couldn't find it, but IIRC, it's spelt 'SOSIJ' and the next waypoint is 'SIZZLE'. :ok:

Lot of amusing waypoint names such as EVONN next to CAWLY. HOOKS is near to ABASS

etc.

OK! So what is the approved response to "You are cleared to SIZZLE"?

The middle of OZ is nicknamed the Great Australian  All.

For quite a while there was a Reporting point in the middle of the country called GAFFA

SOSIJ and SIZZL are on a 14 and 10 Nm final for runway 34L respectively.

Aussie waypoints are legendary. One of my faves also near SOSIJ and SIZZl AND RISOL is NASHO, right next to Royal National Park, the "NASHO" as we say and a fine walk either way from Otford or Bundeena. At the latter a boat fetches tea and ice-cream to who ever hails! Style! Old timers will recall STUGE off Perth, at one time where were the Three Stooges of cinema fame. At E110 can be found WONSA, JOLLY, SWAGY.... but sadly those that used to bring a maidenly blush to the cheek have gone. Folks tell me that the Fuzzy Duck in Wauchope is still there which might not be a waypoint but... does he?

Others ACKER and AKKER [money], ANGAS [wine], ANZAC, BLUEY, BRAMS [no longer with LISST], BRUCE, CHAPL, DIGGA, DIPSO, DONGA [don't ask the ladies, it's a RUDEY], DOXIE, GALAH [flaming of course], GATER, GOANA [as in have a go...], HEWEY [dont ask], HANNA [as happy as ever], KANGA, KARSI, KIMMI [listen to moiye], KOALA, MELBA, NECTA, POKEY, POSUM, PRAWN, STEVO [what a player], SWANI, TOJAM [yuk, spot the Pom], TUNAA, WATLE, YAKKA.

I seem to recall there's a whole string of high level waypoints out over WA which either borrow names from Waltzing Matilda or allude to winning the Webb Ellis trophy.

The only ones I can contribute from my amateur point of view is a set of three coming into YBBN:

SINNK
LEAKY
BOATS
