I'd like to have some general thoughts from training pilots, flight operations managers and the likes on the MCC training required in JAR-FCL.

Should MCC be a dedicated course the way it is now or should it be part of the first type rating?

In all MCC courses that I know of the students are taught on a specific aeroplane type using a specific SOP.
Some say this is no good and that the courses should be more generic claiming that MCC training is of little value when it's done on a B200 and the shiny new pilot is to start training on a B737 using a different SOP.

The first encounter with a new concept often becomes our idea of the right way. This may mean that a bit of a mindset may need to be changed when it comes to type rating training.

On the other hand an understanding of MCC philosophy is bound to be useful when first encountering the concept of working as part of a crew

Then again... "Gear up! Flaps up! Shut up!" and once in a while remind the geriatric in the left seat to keep the blue side up... How hard is that? :D
