Won't ever happen on a CX aircraft.

Really?
So if I'm asked next week to help out you expect me as a professional to say no?

Idiot.

I would say no. I'm not authorised for or experienced in low level maritime ops. It is quite simply not a risk that our customers pay to be exposed to.

Short final 07l at hong kong is low level maritime ops, nothing dangerous about it. The real question is will your superior understand the importance of you helping out. (and getting the airlines name in the paper for free)

wow...straight and level with the occasional turn at 4-5000ft. scary F***ing stuff! almost as scary as flying straight and level over a runway with a brand new 777. please, reach between your legs and grab the peanuts that are there!

If you wouldn't do the same as the chaps from Air Canada....that's pretty lame!

Is there an SOP?

The only reason CX would not respond is they extra fuel required to descend to 5000' 500mi from destination. Carrying fuel to show up at HKIA with 5-10 mins extra would not be enough to help anyone.

I am sure 99% of the CX pilots would help out if asked (and authorized) to. But that HQ would never give that authorization.

Maybe just me but the video I saw did not look like a 777

The passenger, Jill Barber, is also a looker ... not the captain though.
