Has anyone ever seen a (IAI) Westwind corporate jet based in the UK, or in any part of Europe? Just curious - nice classic looking jet.

A quick search on my databases doesn't show any Westwinds (1,1123,1124, 2) to be based on any European register at present, although my sources are not always 100% accurate. I suppose there may be one or two on the N reg in Europe.

good hardworking aircraft, 731's on it, good cabin space for its size, pretty quick, work well on sectors they were designed for.. thought looks are not everyone's taste.

used to work in a company that operated a number of them, they worked well and earned their keep.

Pitty there aren't many around, lovely looking aircraft. I guess production stopped some time ago so finding a service centre and spares must be really tough and costly. Kind of reminds of a design beyond it's time but could still fit in with todays jets. A bit like concord, well beyond it's time and with upgraded systems and more fuel efficient engines may have flown for quite some time.

Kind of reminds of a design beyond it's time but could still fit in with todays jets But it did survive, look at the IAI Astra, IAI Galaxy, Gulfstream G200 etc....... they all come from the original Rockwell Aerocommander....

The G100/Astra SpX is a dying fleet in Europe nowadays. Shame, a great aircraft with excellent legs and very fast cruise speeds. G200's still a very popular supermid though.

One of the saddest sights I regularly see is the derelict Westwind on the Uniform apron at Cairo. Covered in dust and flat tyres. Not one engine or pitot cover in sight.

Plenty of support for Westwinds still in the USA......There's a big outfit at Oklahoma City-Wiley Post which seems to specalise in the type.

The ones you speak of in CAI are actually early JetCommanders with the CJ610 Fuel to noise converters..... a very rare bird indeed:ok:

I operated S/N 321 for many years based in Pontiac, Michigan (KPTK). Great airplane (a WW1), never broke down. Honest 2400 NM range. Fuel efficient Honeywell 731's. Normal cruise was .74 mach.....truing around
420-430 kts depending on altitude. Holds 8700 pounds of fuel and could still put on four pax with baggage with tanks topped off. Needed a quite a bit of runway though at max gross.

A company called Tremec in the states still specializes in servicing that particular airframe.

Like the old Lockheed Jetstar......another great flying machine......but all going to the boneyards now :-(:-(

The only Westwing based in Europe at present is WW24 N328PC.

N328PC former owner was asking for $595.000 end 2010 with 9.000 hours on airframe and 1.700 hrs out of 4.200 TBO on the engines.

This aircraft has been wearing new paint for several months now. Looks good - but I'm biased! Mutt, the photo you've posted was when I was in Rotterdam in 2008 I think.

Fuel and a large baggage hold. The toilet/sink/internal baggage hold stops at around the rosemount probe on the top right (by the toilet skylight circular window) then it's the central fuel tank then the extension tank then baggage hold.
