I've heard of plans on banning Russian heavies from flying over EC countries.
Is that true?

Thanks

New noise restrictions were implemented on april 1 st (no, itīs not a joke...) which, as I understand, ban most russian aircraft from the EU.

The russian authorities have replied with lesser flights allowed from the EU (with western aircraft) to Russia.

Well, I was 90% sure that was a Fool's Day joke!

I watched it on TV on Monday. They also mentioned that the newest quiet glass-cockpit Tupolev 334 would be replacing those banned noisy Ilyushins:

Considering the size of this aircraft, it does not seem to be an alternative to say Il-86, does it?

And what about all those noisy C-5's that use Frankfurt for instance?

Any ideas?
