I know there have been many posts re BCN ATC in general, but I have a slightly different question.

Yesterday FL380 transit overhead BCN from Faro towards Middle East.

Why 6 changes of frequency in perhaps 20 mins at FL380.

Serious question, so serious answer please.

I do not have an answer to you question, but BCN ATC is in a class of its own, there are 144 SIDs for BCN in our FMCs. Why???? :ugh:

Bristol and Cardiff are obviously very busy. ;)

Because most of the TFCs fly North-South axis. The sectors are designed to maintain that TFC on frequency more time, and the W-E arenīt.

And about the SIDs... well, this is Spain man, usually we are told there are new SIDs, LoAs, procedures... AFTER they are in use. And nobody cares if there are 144, most can be old and not used ever, but seems very difficult to cancel those SIDs for our staff.
