Our Martin Mars - "Hawaii" is on stand-by in Vancouver Island. Yet even with the horrific fires in the state, it has not been called up.

That is too bad. A friend of mine lost his house. I saw a picture of his neighborhood, and there isn't much left. I lived with a family for a year during university and they have been evacuated. My brother works at the USAFA and several coworkers have been evacuated from their homes. I am truly saddened.

Not a lot of lakes in Colorado/Wyoming/Montana, not to mention the lowest fire I worked was at 5700 feet, the highest 10300 and the temps have been over 100 pretty much everyday.........

I spent a very pleasant week in Colorado Springs, a lovely spot, a few years ago, with kind and hospitable folk. I hope the fires are soon put out with minimum damage.

I spent most of my life in Colorado and I call it home. I just hope then can get it under control before more people lose their homes and lives.

I saw a photo of a Conair CV580 as well as a Saskatchewan government CV580 fighting the fires.

According to a reliable source there are 9 Canadian aircraft on the fires in the western US: Conair has 3 CV580s plus 1 TC690A in Colorado. The Saskatchewan government has 2 CV580s plus a TC690A there as well. Conair also has a CV580 and a TC690A in Montana.
