I have an A-II that is currently in Phoenix and am getting close to getting it ready to bring up to the Sierra Madre's (just south of Encampment) next spring. They can be gotten for around $100K for ex-military models but must be operated in the Experimental/Exhibition category (no commercial ops). Advantage here is that the Annuals (Condition Inspection) can be signed off by an A&P. No AI required. There are a few Standard category ships that can be had for the mid $100's. If you're good at researching sources you can get enough parts to keep them flying at a reasonable cost compared to newer machines. They are incredibly reliable machines. If you're looking for a personal machine and average 100 hrs/year or less you can get quite a few years out of a typical purchase. Sorry for the delayed response--I just came out of the mountains a couple of weeks ago.
