Ladies and Gents,

What's the likelihood of a VFR clearance direct from the IOM VOR to EGAE, overhead Belfast?

At relatively low level, it's all class D and E. So in theory fine, but the reality may be different. Or perhaps just file IFR?

Opinions from locals (or anyone else in the know) highly valued.

Would suggest there would be no problem at all. It is VFR by the way, and in class D/E, the clearance would be not above 2000', unless a request for higher. Your only issue on the day, VFR, is weather.

Should not be a problem.

Sorry just a typo, I'm aware that it's VFR rather than VRF!!! :-)

next question is are you in a twin or a single?

Single, so will require higher...

Normally not a problem if EGAC are using r/w 22. They are considerably more reluctant to permit transits if 04 is in use.

Whilst I can appreciate where the issues may arise, one would be under a control service and be able to avoid landing traffic. I assume. What are traffic movements like at City???

Shouldn't be an issue. Local ATC are generally very accomodating to GA.

But if you have the time, and the weather, why not take the coastal route...absolutely stunning scenery!

While not disagreeing with above posts are you not a bit late in asking this question ? The Northest 200 is over and next weeks action is on the Isle of Man.

A and C, I understand the Northeast 200 would have been an extremely quiet event. Alternatively, the Northwest 200 was rather busy. :)

Was watching the NW200 from 5000' - above the chase helicopters when transiting to a flyin. Def. looked busy!
