Unfortunately I was facing west on the taxiway when they stopped departures for the RAF funnery on Saturday. Could not see how many aircraft were engaged in the activities but from the gents who were adding commentary however, it seemed that perhaps more than one squadron decided to join in the events. How many were there? Apart from a gentleman offering the opinion that it most decidely was not Concorde, I trust that they at least were moving at speed?

Wish they would have NOTAMED this so some of us could have loaded a bit of extra petrol and that they would have made a pass west of the field..

Ah for the days of the F4...you could have both noise AND smoke...

They were NOTAMed to an extent, H1581/12 and H1584/12.

Wasn't just Hounslow Intnl that was affected. KK,SS and MC(yes really!) deps on certain SIDS were stopped. All that wasted fuel,I bet that won't be included (along with a zillion other expenses) in the final cost to Joe Public of the two weeks of huffing and puffing.Shambles, headless chickens, but of course THEY will never come home to roost.
