Seems a meeting of star shouldered members has indicated that there is no way pilot redundancies can be avoided, even with 200+ on LWOP.
The question then is, how many? Sportingbet unfortunately running good odds on 100.
One would hope this isn't true, but sadly Joyce and Clifford only have their own enemy, (their own staff!) in their sights.

Apparently some junior 767 Capts being offered 737 Capt or 380 F/O 'opportunities'.....

I don't know if it will be the junior ones that end up going - there are quite a few B767 Capts who have will quite happily head over the the A380 as F/Os.

767 RRs supposedly now being retired earlier than the last plan indicated ( :ugh: ). There are already a handful of Captains who accepted the offer of RHS training so they can operate F/O sectors to alleviate a short-term shortage there.

That light in the distance is not the end of the tunnel!

Of course,Sportingbet Australia would know. :ugh:

They have Collingwood @ $8.00 for this years flag and we are clearly the best side in the competition.

I am going to put $5000 on at those odds and really clean up!

400 Ginger Beers, is he serious. So the aircraft get "serviced" in Dudastan by Havajarofvegemite, terrific. How can any company afford to lose 400 engineers? For Gods sake Elaine, get rid of your useless middle managers, busy building little empires in corners, but not engineers or pilots. The farking things can neither fix themselves or fly themselves, but they can sure operate without middle managers and assorted hangers on. More friggin madness.

Cross training costs are massive with the demotion of junior crew members and need to give 6 months notice for CR for S/O's who will go.

Cheaper to offer VR's to some of the over 60's who have done their last conversion to POQ methinks.

Heres hoping anyhow.

I'm only in my 30s. If they offer VR, and I can get it, I'm out of QF tomorrow.

Either way CR or VR its all go I would take it in a flash too! The key is dont accept any other deal and force them to CR you then its all sweet! Almost like a full year pay bonus then go and work somewhere else with a big fat wallet! ...... winning!.....

All are entitled to their own assessment and decisions, but have we all considered the following 'random' thoughts, in no particular order:

- it is in AJ's interest to characterize the current situation in as dire and desperate terms possible, and...
- to keep everyone guessing with the likes of RedQ, JQ Japan/HKG, misconstrued facts, shrinking mainline to prove the mantra, and generally keeping the pressure on in order that...
- politicians and FWA will more likely be of a mindset, when choosing the 'middle ground' as policy is framed & disputes are arbitrated, to define that 'middle' closer to QF's position than if the truth were told, thereby...
- coincidentally causing the inevitably concerned pilots to take LWOP and/or 'volunteer' for JQ positions (because a pilot can't be sacked & then offered a new job in the same group on reduced pay under FWA), thus...
- QF can claim "wonderful employer" status due to making all these 'fantastic' opportunities available to its pilots (despite, for the last ten years, making it practically difficult & virtually impossible for QF pilots to transfer to JQ), and...
- QF pilots cover JQ expansion and pilot resignations at a cheaper overall cost than if they were made redundant by QF!

Everybody in head office has kicked a goal! Bonuses all 'round.

BUT...

- the moment QF actually sack a pilot they can no longer claim that "QF has not made a pilot redundant since the '60s", and that is an important part of the political dogma in this stoush.

There are important mind games going on at many levels. QF announcements, apart from being aggressively ideology-driven, are simply following the principle that if you say it often enough and strongly enough, people will start to believe it. It's important that QF never concede the need to actually explain openly and honestly the many questions employees have asked. In my view if the employee-suspected real truth were easily dispelled as myth, QF would have done so ages ago. The fact that AJ/LS/OW skirt the issues simply confirms the posturing occurring. :hmm:

To end on a slight 'up' note though, it may mean that, once decisions are made and arbitration has concluded leading to some of that 'certainty' corporations are so fond of, a new plan is brought from under the table with the intent of reinvigorating the QF brand rather than siphoning off QF assets to dubious overseas ventures. Here's hoping. :O
