Any idea why BA does not serve KL? Politics?

They used to serve KL along with places like Manila,Jakarta,Taipeh and Osaka.
Hopefully with more LHR slots becoming available they will resume serving Kuala Lumpur.

I was told that it was due to low-ish passenger loads, however I am not aware of any figures to support this.

FWIW, with Malaysian Airlines starting their A.380 service in July, I would imagine that any extra passengers will be easily carried by that, so maybe there is no need for a second airline to serve the route.

BA ceased KL operations due low premium traffic demands.

The Malaysian government desperately wanted them to return for prestige reasons but the economics won the argument.

The loads were always good but the yield was poor.

Qantas has stopped flying to Kuala Lumpur a long time ago, leaving Malaysian Airlines and Air Asis x the only operators KUL - various Australian ports. And even then, Malaysian Airlines finds it hard to make a profit.
