Lee Flying Association - Press Statement 30 March 2012
Lee Flying Association (LFA) is delighted by the Outline Planning approvals for Daedalus granted by the Planning Committee's of both Fareham and Gosport Borough Councils on 29th March 2012.
The LFA congratulates the Homes and Communities Agency team on the way in which local priorities and input, gathered over a five year consultation period, have been incorporated into a well crafted and balanced plan - the most significant elements of which are the retention of the operational airfield and aviation sector growth, both employment and recreational.
In particular Lee Flying Association welcomes the re-assurance given to the Planning Committee by HCA Development Director Peter Cusdin that light and recreational aviation is very much an integral part of the plan and future development of Daedalus Airfield. This assurance was echoed and further supported in his comments by Planning Committee Vice-Chairman Councillor Arthur Mandry.
Lee Flying Association (LFA) has, since 2007, championed the retention and regeneration of the airfield, for the use of the whole General Aviation sector, as the means by which to retain the highly valued open space and strategic gap the airfield has created, and to provide much-needed employment and unique recreational flying amenity for local people.
It is very much hoped that the Outline Planning consents granted will accelerate the pace at which aviation businesses, clubs and individuals are able to proceed with long-planned investments in new hangars and premises which are urgently required for both employment and recreational aviation use.
