renewing jar medical with doctor from other jar country?

Hi,

i did a couple of searches,

if i have a First class german medical - can i go to a CAA approved doctor to renew it there?
or does it have to be a german approved person? (my guess at the moment).

i only found that its possible to do a CAA abroad if a find a CAA approved doctor abroad, which seems possible. (based on that i figured it has to be the same issuing country)

Under the new Aircrew rules, your medical certificate and your licence must be issued by the same EASA country.

172510, you need to read the CAA FAQs more thoroughly.

It states:


Part MED allows for a licence holder to obtain a medical certificate from any Authorised Medical Examiner or Aero Medical Centre in any State, but when they do so the record of the outcome will be sent to the State that holds their medical records, which will be their State of Licence issue. (FCL.015 and MED.A.025 refer). As a medical certificate must be obtained before flying solo, the State of Licence issue for an individual will be determined, at least initially, by where that first Medical Certificate is obtained.

Consistent with the above, from 1st July 2012 the CAA will not accept applications for licences or ratings from anyone who does not have their medical records held in the UK.


The answer therefore is yes, you can get your medical renewed in any Member State, but you must have it sent to your State of Licence issue. It may also need to be translated into the national langauge of the State of Licence issue, which could involve extra cost.

The license and medical has to be from the same Country where the license will be issued, but nothing wrong to revalidate a German medical with a CAA AME!!!

If the person has already the license no problem at all, if he does not have the license yet, will send all the documentations to the German Aviation Authority including Initial German medical plus the medical revalidated and doesnot matter where was performed.

I did not write that the answer was no. Only that as the medical records must be kept in the country who issued the license, renewing the medical certificate in another country will incur extra costs.
Up to now, if you moved to a different country, you could have your records transfered to your new country and keep your licence where it was. For instance, I have my licence issued by a country, and my medical records kept by another country. I'll have to either move my licence or my medical records within the next months. If fact I will move both licence and medical records to a third country.

I have my medical from different Country of the license, and the doctor send automatically the completed form of my medical to my CAA and never asked me extra cost and a translation, if the form is in English has to be accepted.

For me working like this and i am talking about Italian license and Swiss medical.

Yes medical and licence must be same country!

You can do your medical in any JAA country, the doctor (AME), will send your papers to the CAA of your countries license issuer, who will send you a new medical. (The AME also normally issues you a medical when you do the consultation, it is written on the medical issued by the AME, on behalf of which country this medical has been issued)
