Is that a test run, or operational from now on?

Should I logon to EISN flying westbound, rather than EGGX?

Hi Safelife,

Yes CPDLC has been implemented in Shannon but with a limited message set. (squawk code, squawk ident, voice change instruction and check stuck microphone messages only, downlink messages not supported yet)

Eastbound you will be logged on to EISN automatically by EGGX (if CPDLC connected with EGGX). EISN will uplink a squawk 3mins from EISN boundary. If you wait until you receive the squawk , then call on frequency reporting squawk and flight level, you can be identified and cleared in one transmission by the controller.

Westbound if you wish, you can log on to EISN between 5-15 mins before the boundary. If you do, you will then be logged on automatically to EGGX by EISN approx 17 mins before oceanic entry.

Next year a full message set will be implemented and downlink request will then be accepted.

Hope that helps,
Owwnav
