Hi all flyers. Currently there is no food available at Sandown :{ however all visitors flying in are welcome to a free :) cup of tea or coffee at the tower on the south side of the airfield.

Please call Carla (she's the nice lady behind the counter) on 07930242488 for further information.

I will provide more information on this thread as soon as it is available.

See you soon! :ok:

Yes, we are still going, despite what the doom mongers are saying, and we are looking forward to seeing you too.

By the way, the complimentary refreshments are available only at weekends. But that doesn't mean that you can't come weekdays!!

It is hoped that there will be a further update in the next few days and that, soon, Carla's Bacon Baps will be once again available.:D

Keep smiling. Keep flying. :ok:

Dear Sir George

In reponse to your request for photographs of Carla's baps, I regret to inform you that such images are classified information and not due for release to the general public, regretably including your Lordship, until the year 2305 (any relationship to our runway heading is, of course, purely coincidental).

On the other hand I am pleased to be able to advise you that inspection and sampling of the bacon variety, along with sausage, egg and various other flavours, will hopefully be available on site in the not too distant future. There are conditions applicable here including the need to consume all the evidence and lick the plate clean afterwards, thus saving overworking of the washing up operative. Please note that the taking of photgraphs of the said bap is not permitted and any camera found in your pocession may be used as an aircraft chock, something that we always leave in place as you taxi out - it helps to concentrate the pilot's mind as he wonders what he has just taxied into.

I will further communicate with your Lordship when the dining facility is up and running once again, something that we all hope will happen in the very near future. Meantime the ground crew here would be grateful of any crumbs shaken from your Lordship's napkin as we, too, are suffering from a severe lack of bacon and mushroom baps, hot cups of tea and Carla's sense of humour. Any donations to the food stock will be met with a cheery wave from the duty marshaller (watch out, he could be lying on the ground due to hunger).

I have the honour to be, Sir, your obedient Servant. 119275 AC Fieldhawk.:ok:

Dear Fieldhawk,

Consider yourself elevated from Obedient Servant to Head of Household:ok:

I'm sure you will discharge your duties honourably by greeting fellow forumites with said break fast, once available again.

Meanwhile, I have sent you a picture of one of the Earl of Sandwich's ..er Sandwiches.

Meanwhile try not to waste away in case your hi viz jacket (whatever that may be) slips off you.

LysanderV8 - At a guess, just everso slightly wet. Suggest it would be a good idea to call the tower (01983 405125) and get a true up date.

See you soon. Fieldhawk.

Don't cry. There's plenty of food available elsewhere on the island.

As always, restaurants, cafes, shops, car hire, buses and trains will be made available if there's enough movements and visitors at the airport.

Otherwise just expect a strip and nothing more.

and some practical Bembridge info here as well: FLYER Forums • View topic - Shameless Plug for new Bembridge cafe (http://goo.gl/MQHbi) in addition to the plug (new place owned by a PPL).

It's well worth visiting both airfields, and the hard runway at Bembridge can be useful.
