Hi guys and girls

I want to find out how much more work is there is 1900 to do for the pilots comparing to a 200. Can one go direct entry captain on a 200 to a 1900, is it possible and is it recommended? If yes then what would be a good amount of hours on 200 be before going onto the 1900?

Thanks

There is a company in the US that has been putting people straight into the Captain's chair of the B1900 without any type of turbine time, but with over 1500hrs total time.

There's bugger all difference between the two as far as operating them goes. Yes the 1900 is a little bigger, but it's essentially a stretched 200, so most of the systems are virtually identical. If the crew going from the 200 to the 1900 have a thorough conversion, including a decent ground school on the systems, then I don't see any reason why they couldn't go straight into the left hand seat of the 1900.

Yeah they are virtually identical, the only noticeable differences are the "Taxi" detent on the prop levers, and hydraulic nosewheel steering (which I believe is just an option.) I wanna say I remember some 1900 drivers talking about it being slightly more sensitive on the elevator control than the smaller King Airs but that's been a few years ago.
