I'm looking for a UK source of really nice pilot shirts - YSL or Van Heusen perhaps.

They need to be white with 2" epaulettes and standard flapped pockets with pen-hole.

Money not quite no object - I'm just desperate to get away from the BA stores rubbish!

Visit any UK stockist of 'KAUF' shirts.

They are Swiss made, and are of top quality. However the last time I bought a half dozen for freelance work, they weighed in at £45 each !

If you have problems, mail me and I can ask my local stockist to find out the latest prices.

Whilst doing some research on this subject, I came across a UK company called Exact Personal Tailoring Services. They make shirts to your own style and size (you send in all your measurements - there are 11 of them, ranging from shirt length to cuff size). You can choose how many and what type of pockets, collar, etc. and can add epaulettes as well. They have cotton-poly mix for £29.95 short sleeve, £34.95 long sleeve. For the same price you can get a "sand wash silk shirt" which allegedly doesn't need ironing and is virtually uncrushable. Alternatively you can get a 100% Egyptian cotton version for £44.95 short sleeve or £49.95 long sleeve.
I haven't actually tried them myself yet, only seen the catalogue. They only do men's shirts but I guess that as you send in your measurements it doesn't matter!!
Here is the number to call: 01926 645710. They are based in Warwick.

The telephone number of Exact Personal Tailoring Services has changed to 01789 451800 and their e-mail is [email protected] I'm waiting for their catalogue, they were very pleased to have a mention on Pprune!
If your budget doesn't quite stretch to £29.95 per shirt I can recommend www.uniforms-direct.co.uk (http://www.uniforms-direct.co.uk) I've just received a batch of 65/35 short sleeve pilot shirts from them for just £6.27 each incl. delivery & vat, they are probably no different than the BA shirts and are much cheaper.
