View Full Version : A320 FMS : how to force speed on the FAP

Hello,

I've noticed that on the A320 FMS, the managed speed over the FAP is almost the VAPP.
Consequently, the managed top of descent is a bit early.

I've tried to enter 180kt which is not accepted.

Do you know how to modify ?

Thanks

Try selecting the configuration steps in the proper spots and you should have no problem having a good CDA and good speeds with the less fuel consumption.

If the little fellow inside the FMGC was to do everything you weren't needed inside the a/c. Just do your job and fly the thing. Isn't that what they pay you for?

Cheers.

In my FMGS speed is not VAPP at the final approach. It is usually closer to F speed, or even S speed.

You have to "force" VAPP in the FAP yourself for NPAs in IMC

What model are you flying? pegasus, legacy, thales...?

Try creating a waypoint e.g. PD01 somewhere convenient near the start of the approach and force your own height and speed constraints there.

It might generate TOO STEEP PATH or SPEED ERROR messages down route but will put top of descent somewhere closer to where you want it. Thats my suggestion anyway.

It'd be simpler to just intervene with selected modes
