I'm at the stage where I have the hours to unfreeze my ATPL (A).

The CAA, bless 'em, have offered me the choice of a CAA one or a JAA one.

Are there any drawbacks to having the JAA one bearing in mind I alo do a lot of private light aircraft flying aswell?

This is regards to period of validity, IMC rating (which I believe you get with a CAA ATPL but not sure about a JAA one), recency requirements etc.

Many thanks in advance for your help and advice.

JAA licence is valid for 5 years, CAA for 10 years. Renewal for both costs £98 I think.
