... I saw flying at low altitude over West Nottingham this morning probably on approach to EMA ?????? anyone ? it looked very foreign, possibly russian.

How about an Antonov-124. She's got 4 jetengines, is Russian and looks a bit like a (highwinged) B747!

Brian, my guess would be that it was maybe a Bae 146. It is a high wing aircraft. You might want to go to a website called www.airliners.net, (http://www.airliners.net,) it has pictures of any aircraft you could think of. Try looking at some of the aircraft mentioned in the thread and see if any of them match what you saw???
The Bae 146 is built by British Aerospace...
