Can anyone out there answer what appears to be a mysteriuos question?

What does one actually need to do both exam and flying wise to convert an ICAO CPL and IR to a UK JAA licence?

Is there a website somewhere that spells out all the mystery?

Your help would be much appreciated.

Buzz,

You'll find a wealth of information on this subject in the archives. Just use the search function at the top of the pages.

In short though there is no such thing as a conversion unless you have a fair bit of heavy jet time (someone correst me if I'm wrong here). Without that you will have to do all of the theory courses, 14 written exams and a couple of flight tests.

Good luck

That's correct and that "fair amount" has to be PIC of course.....
You will have to do all of the exams (theory and flying) and only the hours you have will be considered so basically the only advantage will be that of being able to do the ATPL exam if you already have the required 1500 TT, 250 PIC etc.....
A pain in the butt basically.......
Good luck anyway.
