Might sound like a dumb question, someone else brought it up in another forum, but i would love to know the answer.

For those pilots with small (and even those with no so small) bladders, how will you cope on long haul flights if the flight deck door is to now remain locked at all times.....or are you allowed to open it to relieve yourself.......

i guess if they ever decide to isolate the cockpit completely in future a/c designs then they'll provide WC facilities, but on current a/c's?

Also does the locked door mean no more in-flight meals....and a dependence on packed lunches?

Just curious in knowing the practical issues behind this new policy.

Powerade bottles work wonders in those smaller aircraft with no toilets on board when you are up for 7 hours at a time. It also helps if you are wearing shorts!

Dunno how the girls would cope though, although an indigenous passenger did use a coke can once, and she did not spill a drop!

The locked door is to keep interlopers out. Not to keep us in. (Or your in :p )

We are allowed to leave the flight deck for "physiological needs". Also, the cabin crew are allowed in, they have to check on us regularly anyway, to make sure we are still awake....!!
So, we get toilet breaks and crew food.
