There was an aircraft performing over RAF Wyton about 1120 this morning. Does anyone know what it was and where it was from?

London / Cambridge UAS or 2 Sqn / 1EFTS Grob Tutor based there so maybe students doing aerobatics as part of their syllabus

Not those. It seemed to be a civilian aircraft but in military clothing. It was painted blue on the underside and a sort of cammo on top. It had roundels but not ones that I immediately recognised. It was a 2 seater one behind the other. It had a retractable undercarriage and did passes with u/c up and down.

Phil,

Blue on bottom camou on top,

Tandem seat

Retractable undercarriage

You forgot to mention if it was a jet trainer or a prop job, I'm assuming the latter.

Unless the competittion for the Tucano replacement for the UKMTS entailed a fly off with say a Pilatus PC-21 and they decided a trial around the different bases such as Cranwell or Linton On Ouse and Wyton be needed.

Maybe Hawker Beechcraft decided to bring in one of their T-6A Texan IIs into the country and enter the UKMFTS and demo again?

Or was it someone's private aerobatic toy say a Yak 11?

I forgot about the Tucano's painted in Battle of Britain scheme as i saw a pair at RIAT 2010.

It was a prop job. Definitely not a Tucano. It reminded me of something from the 1940s or 50s. I am guessing that it was a privately owned aircraft.

It was a T28 Fennec up from Duxford to appear at the graduation of the latest 57 Sqn Tutor course. There was also a flyby by a 32 Sqn BAe 125.

Thanks for that bigjok. I have now found it via google. I missed the Bae 125 though.

Thanks again.

And a very nice display by the Fennec it was to as I sat at my desk in the dry and warmth in Bennett Pavilion watching it. When I went for my lunchtime Bimble, it was sitting on the pan amongst the Tutors. Apart from the 125, a Tucano also did a flly past.
