recently the names of positions 55-61 north 10west were changed to names like nibog, mimku etc. Now when its busy we are getting pilots asking where? which can be very time consuming when you try to explain
Now is this because the FMS has not been updated or just that the pilots are not aware of the change and are just querying an unfamiliar name?
if we just say route direct 57N10W etc does this make work for you unnecessarily or is it just as easy to put 57/10
finally my feeling on these changes (an ICAO idea) are unwise. a position 55N10W is easily identifiable, but MIMKU, NIBOG and BALIX (better be careful how we pronounce that one)etc just seem to be confusing people
what are your feelings?
