The airline business model has not changed much in the past 25 years. Perhaps the biggest change if you can call it that has been the debundling of fares which is really not an "innovative" change.

Wondering how soon we see something comparable to what the i-phone did to the cellphone business. An innovation that changes the face of the airline business forever. My contention is that it would have to be product based (as opposed to service based).

Thoughts/comments.

Well BA are now having passengers complete the whole check-in process themselves, including baggage tag printing, at LGW. Upgrade to BA and do it yourself. Might not be long before a laminated instruction card is left in the galley to tell the pax how to use the ovens and bev makers. I suppose the 73 million make over will enable them to reduce ground staff positions at LGW. Perhaps this will enable them to lower fares from LGW?
