Hi there,

Just doing a straw poll really post 11-9.

How many UK carriers are currently NOT accepting ATC staff for fam flights and how many of you out there are?

I aint had a fam flight for far too long now <img src="frown.gif" border="0">

Was on an atc visit recently and the guys at LGW were asking the same thing.

The consensus seems to be no problem with the right credentials.

I have just asked my boss to take my mate on a jumpseat ride to the canaries and it has been given a thumbs up.

Obviously you have to be sensible about it. I have told my mate he cannot use the loo for 4hrs in case any pax see him and wonder why someone not in a pilots uniform is wandering into the flightdeck.

So even in these times it can be done if you are in the know but I don't think it will ever be back to pre 11/9 flight deck visit days ever.

(I fly for a largish charter company)

Tried 3 times now with Big Airways with all the right credentials, ID, pre-warning, politeness, bambi eyes etc. Not seen a flight deck post 911. Told by airline that Fam Flts OK for ATCOs at Captain's discression, but keep being refused. I'm not too sure what this achieves, but my list of questions keeps growing...

Should I bleach my skin?
