ICAO recommends medicals every six months for Commercial - ATPL etc. pilots at or over 40 years of age. - Every year before, and up to age 40 medical examinations are required once per year. Most Countries seem to adhere to the ICAO rules. In addition, at age 55, an audiogram seems to be a requirement, but there is no solid reference to this in the ICAO references that I can find.
Does anyone know of any countries that do not have or meet those requirements?
