Why Willo & Timba and not Mayfield & Midhurst or Midhurst & Mayfield or whatever.
Why did it change & when.? :confused:

Mayfield & Midhurst are VOR beacons, and are still there. Midhurst is (generally) used on southbound departures out of LHR and Mayfield is at the end of downwind for a left circuit for 26.
Willo & Timba are waypoints (no physical beacon). These provide the point over which the LGW holds are placed. They are positioned above the South Downs to the south of LGW which keeps them away from all the chaos to the north that involves LHR
