Gave him a firm telling off and if he didn't like it he could happily off load himself.

Sounds like great CRM in your cockpit...

Sounds like great commonsense to me.

but why in Northern Europe would you put out pan on 121.5 and not current ATC frequency?? Waste of time!

What can't you understand?

The guard "police" were telling someone off for broadcasting a panpan call on frequency.
His co-pilot was about to chime in before he told him to shut his mouth.

@ goeasy, so everyone knows you have an issue....

...an aircraft in Northern Europe put out a pan call for a cabin fire and heavy smoke...

"Cabin fire" and "heavy smoke" - and they only put out a "pan pan"?!

Wasn't there obviously... but all things considered (i.e. the tone of the opening post for a start), something doesn't sound quite right here.

I'm with Vizsla.

Very poor grammar. I had to read several times before it made some sense.

edit because I think this might be a wind up, reading pilot999's other posts

A long time ago now but I'm sure we were taught that if you have two way VHF with ATC then the emergency call goes out on that frequency first then you change to 121.5 as instructed by ATC or go to 121.5 if there is no response on the regular ATCfrequency?

Looks like the OP has disengaged from the encounter.
