Can I fly to Japan(as pilot)with 78 days left on Passport?

Hello,

I fly for a carrier in South-East Asia. I'm due to fly to Japan tomorrow, 22nd August, and spend two nights there before returning.

My passport will expire on 8th November 2011(less than 6 months). Will I be allowed to enter/exit Japan during the course of my duties as Flight crew? I hold a E.U. Irish passport.

I have been unable to return to Ireland to renew it there.

Same question for Australia too.

Can you not renew your passport at the Irish Embassy in the country in which your based?

I renewed my UK passport without returning there.

Sorry, doesn't help with your current dilemma, just curious.
