Training of new FOs

Having just returned to the UK after nearly ten years down under, I have been a bit shocked by some of the new FOs standard of training. Is it just me being a crusty old **** or are these guys getting much less training than we used to get?

Are you referring to those that have to pay for the privilege also known as those that 'Pay to Fly', or those that the airlines make so much money via the 'approved' training schools allegedly?

I think these guys have been through approved training schools but they don't all seem to have been given the depth or confidence that I used to see previously.

Having just come back from my 10 minute coffee break downstairs I have been a bit shocked by the standard of some people on Pprune... Is it just me being a crusty old **** or are these guys getting much less training than we used to get and hence end up in the wrong thread?
