Hi can someoneplease clear up a point of discussion ! Aerodrome elevation and airfield reference point. Explain the difference, please

Yep. Wrong forum. But before you get transferred to the Question forum the Airfield reference point is the geographical position (often the centre of the main runway) where the elevation above sea level is published as being the average elevation of the whole field. The individual runway thresholds may vary considerably according to local terrain.

By ICAO definition (Annex 14, Volume 1, Chapter 1 and PANS-OPS) the aerodrome elevation is the elevation of the highest point of the landing area, and the aerodrome reference point (not airfield reference point) is the designated geographical location of an aerodrome.

BoingBoy's reference to the "average elevation of the whole field" might be the definition for the UK.

In the UK last time I checked the aerodrome elevation is the highest point on the manoeuvring area. (David you need to do a little revision there, dear boy! LOL)

This is not the case in other States - for example, (once again last time I checked) in Greece it is the elevation of the aerodrome reference point (about the middle of the airport).
