Hey Guys I am planning to do type rating on A320. Can somebody please guide me through the procedure. I have a Current CPL, FRTOL, RTR but my IR on multi engine (pa34-220t) is expired. I have some questions which are as following :

what is the procedure to follow.
what are the documents required.(DGCA).
please give me the name of some istitutes which provide type rating and where are they.(excluding CAE)
What is the procedure after getting the type rating.(for Endorsement on the Licence).
Till what time is it valid for.
What is the renewal procedure for it.
For renewal do i have to go to the same place where I had done the initial Type rating.

Guys please help me.

Thanking You.
Regards,
Jehan.

Jehan Sadly you wont get a favourable answer on the forum about TR.
Better go and visit DGCA with your documents and some TRTO's Application form..ask Capt Kathpalia ( He is Incharge of issuing NOC ) about your problem and he will guide you way better than some depressed sick idiot.

If you do get the NOC then do post it here about the latest TRTO requirements that DGCA wants.

hello friends,

Does DGCA gives NOC for HPA, Texas for A320 TR

Which is a good place to get your A320 TR in low budget. (Approx 15 lacs including living and traveling expenses ;-)

guy's it is not he's fault..the circumstance has made most of the aspiring pilots in India negative and lack in confidence...and yes why will not anyone be...even I am little low in moral coz i see the competition i see in the market...and people with pull's, contact's and influence feel's like committing a suicide coz i dont have one!:{

last year i was planning for 737TR in the same month of july...i had letter of invitation as well from CAE, Amsterdam but, came accross couple of people so negative..so lack in confidence..so much thought about the plan of going for TR..and told mee so many things about loosing 16 lacs....eventually i dropped the plan of goin for that TR...but latter in month of december...the whole batch who went for TR and huge number of pilots in india who had 737 TR got hired in spice and jet!! :{

this wrong decision of not going for 737 TR is haunting mee very very baddd!!:{

moral of the story..not to listen or take advice of anyone...just use your brain!!

@vdaff - it's not your fault...becoming a pilot must have made you like that..don't worry...just change yourself..time will also change..stop being negative...and use your brains!!:ok:

Just like those who went for TR on 737 with dreams of landing on right seat with in a span of few months ended up with doing IR/LR again.

Going for self sponsored TR is no crime but classifying " I will get job with my TR " is called risking bad debt. Not all got jobs with TR....few of them are still sitting with no takers for them.

All the best for TR and yes HPA is approved by DGCA.Confirm again with DGCA about latest developments.

u want cheap or good training? cheap is a waste. go where the airlines go - the place that they are confident in. Jet go to Alpha in UK. others too

I believe CAE bangalore also offers A320 type for somewhere around 15 lakhs .

Relatively lower cost of living than foreign countries;)

hey guys

is it worth doing any type rating at this point of time.
If yes, then which one should i go for 320/737? and where?

Johny Boy
14th Jul 2011, 19:11
320 TR from CAE Bangalore

Will this be under DGCA regulations like first sitting for 320 specific/technical exams and grind it out just like other DGCA exams.

Or

Get a NOC from DGCA as we will be doing TR on JAA based.

Cyril what about this facts?

Another thing is that DGCA has changed requirements for TR....have they increased or decreased basic requirements and what bearing will it have on TR prices?

hey Jehan here are ur answers :

1) what is the procedure to follow .
You will need to apply for an NOC to DGCA stating your Type of Aircraft and the Institute from which you wish to do it. NOC takes about 3 to 7 days and you can collect it by hand. A sample copy for A320 is available here on PPrune you can search for it.

2) what are the documents required.(DGCA).
You will need to submit a copy of your DGCA CPL with the NOC, thats all.

3) please give me the name of some istitutes which provide type rating and where are they.(excluding CAE)
You can go to SimCentre Miami, PanAm, Cockpit4U in Berlin and Lufthansa Training Centre in Frankfurt. They are all good. HPA in Dallas has been recently blacklisted by DGCA, u will not be issued an NOC for HPA.

4) What is the procedure after getting the type rating.(for Endorsement on the Licence).
For the endorsement your Institute will provide you with all the necessary paperwork, you will just have to attach your original CPL, FRTOL, RT and Logbook along with the CA 39 form and submit it to DGCA. It takes about 2 weeks for the Endorcement. The fee is INR.10K for each type of aircraft.

5) Till what time is it valid for.
The Rating is valid for a year.

6) What is the renewal procedure for it.
You need a certain hours on the sim, i do not know the exact number. Will post it up if i get that info.

7) For renewal do i have to go to the same place where I had done the initial Type rating.
Its not required to renew from the same place, you can do it in India too.

i hope u have a clearer picture of the process now. And as far as 1000 plus type rated unemployed pilots are concerned, i am surprised to have not come across them on pprune.

Also 34K fee taken by indigo is for CAE Kaula Lampur. The fee in CAE Madrid is now 40K.

Johny Boy

CAE Madrid - 40K USD for 320TR :eek::eek:
CAE KL - 34 K USD for 320 TR:ugh::ugh:

Indigo will send pilots at KL now?:D
Cheap Airfare and cost of living.:)

What next after TR ?
Shinny new jet's right seat :E
Or
Remain Unemployed with TR:(
( Thats Promotion - Being Unemployed with CPL to Being 320 Rated Unemployed Pilot ):sad:

Can anyone provide Simmcenter website....? for some reason i am unable to use their site as i guess its not functioning right now.
Whats the price structure at Cockpit4u & Panam for DGCA based 320 TR .....?
Is Rjflight , Dubai still blacklisted by DGCA ?

Ridge Runner -
Is it ALPHA AVIATION UK,the same group that is operating Clark Aviation in Clark SEZ, Pampanga, Philippines for MPL course ?
You PM'ed me with a message stating its 32kUSD.....is it as per DGCA requirement or UK CAA requirement based price ?
What about the lodging and traveling cost to-fro TRTO center?

hey guy's what are the new DGCA requirements on TR?

I have heard they are issuing NOC as per new requirement's and the they have increased in number of hour's on "Full Flight Simulator Training".

But, I am not sure weather TRTO's has it updated and they still quoting the old price as per old DGCA requirement's.

Can anyone give me the exact change in the requirement's so that i can ask for quotation for these requirement's.

8 sessions of FFS training of a duration of not less than 32 hours (which must include 16hrs as PF and 16hrs as PM) spread over 8days.

Four hrs of LOFT

2 sessions of skill test on level D

LVO and AWO(all weather operation) 2hrs each.

Johny Boy
22nd Jul 2011, 16:21
^^Bhambri

Are those latest TR requirements from DGCA or old one?

bhambri

latest. awo is extra for noc's issued after 30th june.

Johny Boy
22nd Jul 2011, 18:58
So this is Final & Latest Requirements for TR as per DGCA:

16 PF + 16 PNF - Atleast 8 FFS spread over minimum 8 days.
4 LOFT
Skill Test - 2 Session.
LVO+AWO

Well got a doubt about how much duration should be done for Skill Test and LVO+ AWO.

So min hours on Level D = 36 Hours + Skill Test followed by LVO+AWO.
What about FBT hours - How much do we need for those ?

Thanks a lot for update !:D

I would advice everyone, to select a school on merit and not on Price.
The problem you will face later is that of a job, u will be asked from where and under whom did you train. also what procedures do you follow.

According to my personal experience, it a deciding factor... !!!

please take care and do not join cheap TRTOs which just give you a TR.

Cause the standard in India is very high, and TRTOs follow JAA and FAA which have lesser requirements.

Dude you are right, but i was wondering how exactly it matters because if one is able to clear all the checks and test then the airline shouldnt have any problem where you do your type rating and all???????Shed some light here.......

Airline Process related to ur TRTO.

In Exam : In depth Questions on systems, no TRTO will waste time on systems, as it is not much required for FFS, just an overview is required.
Questions will not be from FCOM direct, you need to understand it very very well.

In Interview: About your instructor, procedures and FFS, They will ask you a lot of questions related to your procedures. which no TRTO will explain.

In FFS: Procedures need to be in accordance to Airbus, most of the instructors have their own procedures and don't follow airbus or modify it.

This is just according to my experience,,, alot of things change and get worst for people who are weak in systems and airbus procedures.

ALSO before joining a TRTO, make sure your instructor is well versed with English (TRTOs in Europe have a major problem, including CAE madrid)

Hope this has helped

koolchaos3188

I agree with naughtyjay...
Doing it from a reputed TRTO really helps you especially for the interview.
and IndiGo does give preference to CAE guys for the interview round.

Does Anyone know if any of the airliners in India conduct Base Check ?
i.e Touch and Goes in the actual airplane without passengers before flying as a first officer with passengers on board .

If so then how many T/O and landings ?

koolchaos3188
23rd Jul 2011, 09:38
Well if you do Type from CTE hyderabad then you can do the base check with them.

cyrilroy21
23rd Jul 2011, 09:41
I have heard that the A320 simulator at CTE is really very old ( about 20 years )

There was an article about IC pilots complaining to the DGCA regarding its age

Is this true ?

koolchaos3188
23rd Jul 2011, 09:43
You are absolutely right, the sim are really old.
And its not worth spending 25-30 lakhs and almost a year. It's better to do it from CAE

planeboy_777
23rd Jul 2011, 13:10
I have been to that simulator...lol
its so old that

all the numbers and alpha numericals on the MCDU have faded out...
the trims which has alternate black white stripes have faded to just white...
and many more things

this was just an observation from inside.:):):):)

Johny Boy
23rd Jul 2011, 13:31
CTE SIM's are old and rusted soon to be classified as vintage model's:p
But they got very good ground instruction course which can make a difference among system exams asked by airlines in India.
But cost is way too much & with 28 Lakh's i can do 320+737 TR:E

koolchaos3188
23rd Jul 2011, 13:41
It's no use doing type from CTE.
They make you remember all the figures which makes you go crazy. They make you study the FCOM systems for 3-4 months.
It's better to do self study for the written exam conducted by airlines.
All the questions are asked from smartcokpit.com (http://www.smartcokpit.com). So just study the FCOM by yourself and do the questionnaire instead of wasting your money.

@ cyrilroy21:

yes you have to do a base check before you are cleared for flying with pax.
Usually the company takes anywhere from 4-6 F/Os on a plane early in the morn between (2-5am) and does the checks.

Only its called FAM flight, Familiarization flight.

Has to be min of 45 mins and 3 t/o and landings..

hard on the plane trust me... that many landing cycles in that short a time does shake things up in the plane... :ouch:

cyrilroy21
11th Aug 2011, 20:15
@Challenger 05

Thanks for the info

I know that IC does base checks but was not aware of the other airliners in India or whether it was compulsory or voluntary

I guess the first base check in your first jet aircraft must be really exciting :)

Also do you happen to know what the term "Suppy" is used for ?

DesiPilot
12th Aug 2011, 06:26
Hi Cyril,

Supy or Suppy or supernumerary is basically an observer in the flight deck. Before you can go for your first officer online training you will have to do certain number of hours of sectors of supernumerary flying. Basically observing the SOP's and other flows. Once you have completed the required number of observation flights you can go for your first officer training release checks so you can start your training in the plane.

Well its a bit risky spending that much money just for indigo.....nobody else is hiring. Remember you will only have 2 attempts to clear the writtens and only one for interview after your rating. If you dnt clear that , you wont be allowed to appear again in indigo....
But on the other hand if you have got enough money then its a good step to take forward...
