I have a UK ATPL with a Cof T for an A320, last done on Nov 99. How long is the endorsement valid for if I dont renew the C of T? Is this the same under JAA and lastly how do I convert my UK ATPL to a JAA one? I am as far as I can get from the UK at the moment and info of this type is scarce. So any help would be very welcome. Thanks.

I believe that it is still valid for 5 years, i.e. if you have not completed an LPC on type within 5 years of your last one then you can kiss the rating goodbye.

To convert to a JAA ATPL is easy - send the CAA £172, all your logbooks, a copy of your JAA Class one medical, and what can only be described as a simple form (for the CAA!) and they will do the rest for you. Mine has just been issued. Oh, you must have 500hrs multi crew on JAR25 a/c i.e A320!

Get in quick before they decide that the Airbus is far to dangerous, and that all REAL pilots fly Boeings!!!! He He He

HARD HAT DEPLOYED!!!! :)

I'm not so sure. As I understand it you can do a renewal ( as opposed to a revalidation ) within 5 years of expiry of your LPC. After that refresher training at the discretion of the Authority is required to renew the rating. In other words you don't lose the rating altogether under the JAR system.
I might be mistaken here, but thats how I interpret the rules.
