Hi everyone

I am trying to get some information on 2-bar vasi, can anyone point me to the official writeup or any good articles regarding the design and implementation of 2-bar vasi. I have tried searching in ICAO website but only found T-vasi/ AT-vasi?? Thanks in advance.

Go to the FAA website's section for documents (FAA: Home (http://www.faa.gov)). Look for the AIM. It's available for download in .PDF format. It describes 2 bar VASI as used in the US.

Lots of information from the FAA (http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library%5CrgOrders.nsf/0/A6D90099D4C0342A8625731400616262?OpenDocument).

Interestingly, the VASIs were deleted from the relevant ICAO document (Annex 14) in 1995.

I remember seeing a film during my ATC training about the development of VASI's and as far as I recall, the system was developed at Farnborough in the '50s, so if you contact the successor of RAE, Qinetiq, they should have the necessary records.

Thought PAPI ruled. Any VASI left in Europe? Would love to fly an approach:ok:
