Ansett Australia is about to introduce quick turnaround bonus. How do you feel about having the crew trying not to rush while the carrot is dangling?

It's this kind of quick turnround nonsense that causes accidents and people to try to cut corners.. In short it's dangerous - It's OK to have a standard target - but, doesn't sound like good practice to give bonuses to the crew to achieve unrealistic targets.. In most cases you hurry to complete the turnround and then watch while the aircraft sits there for another ten minutes waiting for a slot or just a ground movement control delay..!

Do you mean that the Flight crew gets the bonus? In my airline we do 25 and 20 minute turnrounds. It is never the Flight crew which causes a delay but pax missing, baggage delays, slots, tractors unavailable....

If you want the quick turn round to function, those are the areas where money should be spent.

Is it safe? In my experience yes and the nice thing is that you are soon back in the air, where life is simpler, with the adrenoline at a constant level. I used to hate sitting in the first class reading the paper to pass the time until the passengers came - then get back into the frame of mind for flying. That was tiring.
