There seems to be a mass exodus from engineering. It seems that everyday another person resigns. What is going on - there can't be much experience left. It's a small number of people that make a big difference, and a good number have quit - had enough!

An Ex-Cathay Engineers View:

Grass = greener
Skies = bluer
Air = cleaner
Eyes = open
Head = out of the sand/ass
Cathay's Game = not playing anymore
Bull**** detector light = on, with master caution - eject, eject, eject!

Cathays View:

Emperors Clothes = on and looking majesterial
Rose tinted specs = on
Eng Wage Bill = too high
Foreign Devils = too many
Worried = no

Good Luck!

You're really selling it. What hope to attract new people if they can't retain the guys they have? Apparently they are no longer offering expat terms. Gonna be hard to compete with the sandpit considering the high cost of housing and the impossible situation with schooling...

Sounds like CX is in the fast lane taking a 1st world airline towards 3rd world standards. First pilots and now engineers??? Get the white faced devils out of here, at least the expensive ones!!! Don't worry though, our exceptionally high standards and management will ensure a safe operation.

@bert,

indeed I believe there was a small 'service of rememberance' held for expat terms in CX City yesterday. From the mouth of one senior manager:

"At next contract renewal there will be no expat terms in CX engineering...."

Adios Muchachos!

Interesting that the Eng director highly conspiciously does not draw any housing allowance. Maybe everyone needs to marry a university professor, live in luxurious professorial staff quarters and get free housing that way!!

and even wonders why aircraft need chocks...and a few of those ENG D grades, hell bent on achieving there KRA's by seeing who can remove the most expats the quickest..
God help us the wake up call come before we have a smoking hull..Seems HLL and the little we learnt is history..

The current encumbent DE would have liked this 'weight saving' suggestion made during SARS:

"Can we fly with less oil in the engine tanks?"

Note - this comment did not come from a Foreign Devil....

For LOL hilarity remember when they turned off the logo lights on the Airbus fleet to save on maintenance. And it was worthy of a half page article in CX World. You couldn't make that stuff up!

...or stripped the paint from the 744F's just at the time that NWA were re-painting their a/c, coz the bare metal maint costs a sh!tload of money, and now CX are repainting also....
