Airborne's persistent weakness has left the company open to acquisition and industry sources have told Air Cargo World that Airborne has been in buyout talks with DHL Airways, the American unit of the DHL express business owned by Deutsche Post World Net. The sources said the two sides hope to reach an agreement on a sale in early 2002.
