Can any of you chaps tell me what I need to do, to convert my CAA CPL/IR to a FAA CPL/IR for an American F/O programme.

Cheers

1.Borrow or buy the following book: FAA CPL/IR theory by Irving N. Gleim.
2.Study for about 2 days.
3.Fly to the U.S, select a flight school.
4.Take the test & get a First Class medical
5.Get your FAA PPL with IR (ca. 6hrs)
6.Get your FAA CPL/MEL with IR as ad-on (ca. 4hrs)
This will take you about two weeks and set you back a $1000.

Thanks Sir Fly,
I was under the impression that I only had to sit the IR writen exam to convert to FAA IR?

Any suggestions.

Not that I know of, but you can get a FAA validation of your UK license. However, the FAA will put some limitations on your license, quote: "Not valid for the carriage of persons or property for compensation or hire or for agricultural aircraft operations"
This means it's useless for an F/O programm.
Besides, if you're up to UK standards, getting your FAA CPL/IR MEL should be a walk in the park !
Cheers.
