Does anyone still remember or know where in ICAO publications is described how to fill in flight progress strips (old, physical, paper strips) ?

There's a bit in PANS-ATM and the ATS Planning Manual - but nothing of any substance from what I recall.

The precise layout of, and information contained on, flight progress strips varies depending on the ATC unit and should be detailed in local instructions.

Lon..... the introduction of R/T was a boon. Doing Heathrow GMC using the old semaphore flags was a real pain.....

Day one of my "career" in ATC, putting out strips for one of the controllers in heathrow tower.....35 years later, I found myself acting as "support" for a fellow instructor at the college, putting out strips, during a continuation training run....the same bloke! I said " Bill (McColl), I was doing this for you 35 years ago" He said "things haven't improved much have they?"

Bill was an instructor on my Procedural Approach course, along with Geoff Wild, (summer 1980).
Jenks arrived a year later for the end of our Approach Radar course.
I think Bill had an aviation shop in the terminal at EGHH.
Great days.

"Hot one for you, D". Worked every time :} I would have used an Oxy-acetylene burner on John Reynolds if I'd had the chance. :E
