Help please.

I have a valid IRT gained on a Seneca, but if I wanted to fly an airways equipped PA 28 in the airways am i allowed to? Or do i need a single engine IRT?

Assuming of course that London lets me in anyway.

Am i about to break the rules? i know it may sound daft, but i can't remeber what the rule is.

If anyone knows the definitive answer, please do say.

Thankyou.

Section XIII (Conditions) of your license should say whether your IR is a multi crew rating. If it is, then you have to have the single pilot IR to fly IFR in controlled airspace. If you have a UK ATPL (not JAA), you can exercise the privaliges of an IMC rating.

There is a thread running on this topic in the flying instructors section.

A single PILOT instrument rating done on a multi ENGINE aircraft will allow you to fly single engine with the same priviledges.Nothing to do with multi crew as seneca's or PA28 are ofcourse single crew.

Thankyou,

That's exactly what I thought. But naturally felt a bit nervous to make a grand f**k up in the airways!

Roll on Saturday....
