Just a bit of research. Do BALPA represent all UK ATPL holders. We in engineering are suffering because our representation is very fragmented. We do have the Association of Licensed Aircraft Engineers, but they are not the first point of contact in any company bar British Midland. United we stand ect......

Could you just advise if all the pilots in you company are represented by BALPA ????

No. Not all pilots are represented by BALPA.
It is up to the individual concerned to become a member of BALPA and have representation.
For details on BALPA, you may want to visit their web site at, http://www.balpa.org/page_one.html
Cheers.

If your association is not a recognised Trade Union, no employer has to recognise it or talk to it.

BALPA is a trade union, and therefore under current law the company has to recognise it and talk to it if more than 50% of employees are members.

I think that that may be the basic difference!

Thanks for the info. It is a registered union . But the 50% sounds very interesting.
