A320 / MD83

Which one is cheaper to operate?
A brandnew A320 or an old MD83...
incl. maintenance, fuel, leasing...
and everthing else? :)

depends on how many hours a day you are gonna operate it.

Fly it one hour a day and the md80 is far cheaper than the airbus.

fly it 24 hours in a day and the A320 starts to get more attractive. However, with fuel prices heading into the tank, you will have to fly the A320 more and more hours to break even.
