Hi everyone,

I'm very interested to hear from those of you who are ATCs and hold a pilot licence. It doesn't matter which you became/got first but I'm curious to know:

If you are or were an ATC, why did you decide to fly?

Why did you decide to become and ATC if you first got a pilot licence?

Whichever applies to you, which do you prefer now and why?

I'm asking because I have done some flying and am considering pursuing a career in ATC.

All thoughts, information, advice, abuse, etc gratefully received.

Thanks.

2 totally different things. Flying is for fun, not to earn a living.

ATC begins for most like a job to earn the money to fulfil my hobbies , then becomes a habbit and quite frankly, in my days at least , was a far more inteesting job that flying a bus from A to B and sleeping in different hotels bed very night.

I'd , rather and by far , be a controller and spend my time off and my money flying VFR where I like, when I like, with whom I like, rather than Flying for a boss and a company everyone dislike and playing computer games on a PC on my days off waiting for that stand -by call.

(ps: it is raining today )
