I've just been told that when I turn 40 this year I will have to get full blood tests done for my JAA class one renewal. I thought it was always just the finger prick test? Bloomin not like needles in veins!:{

Is this a new requirment? I've not heard of it before.

If you mean the lipid profile (http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=49&pagetype=90&pageid=531) that is done at the initial issue and at age 40, then it has been in effect for quite a while now.

Depending on what the requirement is and how it is tested, it may be a fingerprick test or a veinous blood sample. Either way, I doubt it is a big deal.

The lipid profile is one of the factors used in assesing the risk potential of cardiovascular disease. Although it is a reference from the New Zealand CAA, this document (http://www.caa.govt.nz/medical/Med_Info_Sheets/MIS007.pdf) may help.
