Does anyone have experience of working in the S Pacific? I'm trying to find out what what it's like working there, living there, etc.; and what sort of chance a FAA qualified pom has got of getting a job there.

If no one answers your question soon, repeat the question in Dununda. Quite a few Ozmates and Kiwis work in the S. Pacific.

Fiji used to accept any ICAO license and would also put on any type rating that was or ever had been on their own register. You had to do air law and the old ARB performance A, but am not sure if that exotic subject even exists now. If it does, you could sit it in Blighty before you went there and I am sure they would accept it, as they are pretty laid back. Can't speak for the other countries, but most of them seem to look to Oz or NZ now for guidance on aviation legislation.
